Lawyer Mark Seif is a Poker Pro
Mark Seif is not one of those professional poker players who left their jobs in order to play poker. He is a professional poker player who is still very much active in working as an attorney who resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born on October 4, 1967, Mark Seif was already playing poker when he was six years old. As he was growing up, he became very interested in the game. However, he was not as skillful as the other professional poker players, which prevented him from being recognized by the public right away. This was not a problem anyway. This professional poker player simply played and played until he became as skillful as some of the poker giants. He has been playing successfully since 2000, but he gained worldwide public recognition for the first time when he won fourth prize at a World Poker Tour event that was held in August 2002. Since then, he has been recognized as one of the professional poker players to always reach the final table or to always experience money finishes.
Mark Seif made another admirable play when he finished in ninth place in a No Limit Texas Hold'em event that was conducted on May 15, 2003 during the 34th Annual World Series of Poker. He may have been delighted to win US$17,760, but what really made him glad was the fact that he was able to compete with some big professional poker players, including Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, and Phil Helmuth, Jr.
Mark Seif used to be recognized as a professional poker player who was skillful enough to reach the final table. Now, he is recognized as a professional poker player who has two World Series of Poker bracelets. What makes him even more admirable is the fact that he earned both bracelets in less than a week. On June 16, 2005, he was awarded US$181,330 and a World Series of Poker bracelet after winning in a Limit Hold'em game at the 36th Annual World Series of Poker. Six days later, he received US$611,145 and another World Series of Poker bracelet after winning in a No Limit Hold'em game at the same tournament. Another reason that excited him while playing in the second event was the fact that he was able to compete with and defeat some poker giants. They included Bill Gazes, Dave Ulliott, and Greg Raymer.
In the same year, Mark Seif also won first prize in a Seven Card Stud game of the United States Poker Championship that was held on October 2 at the Taj Mahal located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The cash prize amounted to US$55,000. Aside from that, Mark Seif also reached the final table of an event featured by the World Championship of Online Poker.
Mark Seif says that he attributes his success to several professional poker players whom he considers as inspirations, such as Andy Glazer, Nolan Dalla, David Sklansky, Mike Caro, Carl McKelvey, David Chui, Linda Johnson, Lyle Berman, Mike Sexton, and Doyle Brunson.
